July 8, 2023 Update

Friends of Betty Jonah Orphanage,

Friends of Betty Jonah Orphanage,

It is with deep earthly sadness and profound eternal joy that I write to share that our mother, "Ma Betty" Jonah has gone to be with the Lord. She is in the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Ma Betty suffered a debilitating stroke a couple of years ago and her health had declined. She passed away this week and was 84 years old. We are sad that she is gone, but thankful that she is no longer dealing with health issues.

Ma Jonah has been in my life for over 50 years. She and my mother (Jane Williams) served side by side in ministry and as friends in Liberia for 30 years - visiting, ministering, witnessing to many). She is one of the strongest, godly women I have ever known and her faithfulness was remarkable. Faithful to her husband, family, church, community and most of all, Jesus.

The Betty Jonah Orphanage was founded because of her. We simply attached her name to what she was already doing - taking in children abandoned during the war. She planted a church in a nearby village and was a rock for Redeemer Church all of these years. She walked with her husband in ministry as a co-laborer in the Gospel.

I will write more later - but words cannot describe her life time impact. We will miss her so very much, but we say "thank you God for our mother."

She once said to me in the presence of many, "God passed through you ma and pa to us and now, God is passing through us to you (the children of the Orphanage)." Indeed, God passed through Betty for over 50 years to the glory of God. Well done thy good and faithful servant of the King.

If you would like to make a contribution to the family to help with funeral expenses or to support the Betty Jonah Orphanage in memory of Ma Betty, you can do so in the following ways:
